800Miles

800 Miles is about the distance across the great state of Texas, and it's also the name of our band. The music of 800 Miles mixes the country sounds of Texas and Nashville with a distinct Rock edge. We call it Rockin' Country...

Justin Thomas (Lead Vocals / Guitar )

Justin Thomas (a.k.a. JT) (descendant of Mark Twain) - founded Eight Hundred Miles in an energetic attempt to avoid growing up and get a "real job". He developed a passion for country music in the womb and was once kissed by Kenny Rogers. JT, or "Space Cowboy" as he sometimes crudely demands to be called, has been writing and performing songs since childhood and occasionally in the future. A veteran of the US Army, JT has served one tour in Iraq as well as two years with the US Army’s Special Forces (Green Berets) at Ft. Bragg, NC, where he was a frequent performer/drunk/prankster on the local music scene. Here in San Antonio, JT is making a name for himself as a ridiculously hot cowboy performer and a natural entertainer who has been rumored to actually set fire to a stage in Abilene... Come see for yourself y'all

Josh Goode (Lead Guitar)

Lead guitarist Josh Goode is an original member of 800 Miles and has been playing guitar since childhood. He's on a continuing quest to take over the entire stage with his ever-expanding guitar collection. In addition to rocking the guitar solos, Josh serves as the group's resident graphic designer and sound guy. His current achievements to date include not killing either of the two singing diva members of the group who constantly demand that their monitors be turned up. Josh is currently undergoing therapy to combat a persistent addiction to the rampant overzealous use of the wah pedal.

Kira Gerasimon (Lead and Harmony Vocals / Violin)

Kira G. joined Eight Hundred Miles in August 2008 as an act of rebellion against 20 years of classical violin and vocal training. Prior to that, she was briefly a member of the San Antonio Mastersingers, but left the group due to her continual inability to adhere to the concert dress code. In addition to her powerful vocals and intermittently fabulous fiddle playing, Kira brings to Eight Hundred Miles her tendency to give unwanted music theory lessons to other members of the group and an amazing talent for making angry faces when somebody screws up. She also occasionally brings beer to rehearsal as a peace offering.

Michael Bommer (Drums / Percussion)

Michael Bommer started playing the drums at a young age, (21), when he was given a choice between that or going under cover for the N.S.A. as an Asian prostitute in Ohio, (Seems Ohio has an unknown drug cartel and a strong desire for hot Eastern lovin'....and that used to be a secret). Anyways, Michael spent the next few years leading protests against both hate speech and the re-mastering of all ABBA recordings. In 2003, Michael was successful in adding the phrase "fatty fatty fat fat" to the list of unacceptable hate phrases to all Junior Schools within the South Dakota state lines. Michael would now like to make the following statements: "Guns N' Roses, Jim Henson, David Fincher, Dr. Dre and Tool will always rule!" (Yeah, it rhymes). And "Nobody loves a quitter. So quit trying to quit!" Truly, these are words to live by. However, these words may change once Michael and actress Anne Hathaway are happily married and ready for a future of wedded bliss until the day they are both killed by looters, upon which a crow will promptly bring Anne Hathaway back to avenge their deaths. (The crow won't bother with Michael because these days he's just too damn lazy to avenge anybody's death.)

Eddie Villarreal (Bass Guitar)

In March of 2009, Eight Hundred Miles finally coagulated their feces and asked Eddie to Join the band. Though tired from his tour of china with the Amazing Eggrolls Acrobat Group, he gladly accepted. Being the best thing that's ever happened to them, the rest of the band emails him daily just to thank him for joining, and giving them a reason to get up in the morning. Eddie has played with many different bands, of many different genres, and written music for local theater groups. His bass playing can simply be described as a Rockin' Hotdog, topped with shredded awesome, and slathered in wicked sauce. His energy and personality are a great fit for Eight Hundred Miles' good loud country music, and his sense of humor and sarcastic remarks always liven up our practice sessions. He is loved by the band and his fans so much, he has had to turn down 9 marriage proposals, 4 of which have come from JT...
